In support of Jamaica’s recovery following a devastating natural disaster, MIGHTY CROWN will resume activities to host charity events titled “SOUNDS FOR JAMAICA.” The events will take place in Yokohama and Osaka in January and February 2026.
On October 28, 2025 (local time), Jamaica was struck by Hurricane “Melissa,” a Category 5 storm—the largest ever recorded. The hurricane caused catastrophic damage, particularly in the southwestern regions of the island. More than 1.5 million people were affected, with countless homes destroyed. Schools, hospitals, and roads were left blocked by debris, and recovery efforts remain far from complete. Long-term and continuous support is urgently needed for reconstruction.
In response to this situation, MIGHTY CROWN, which has been on hiatus from sound system activities since 2023, has decided to resume activities as a way of giving back through music for the support and inspiration they have received from Jamaican music and culture for over 30 years.
In January 2026, MIGHTY CROWN will host one-man charity events, “SOUNDS FOR JAMAICA,” in Yokohama (YOKOHAMA Bay Hall) and Osaka (club JOULE). Proceeds from these events, after covering necessary operating expenses, will be fully donated to support organizations in Jamaica, contributing directly to the country’s recovery efforts.

More than a month has passed since the catastrophic damage caused by the hurricane, yet the situation in Jamaica is barely being reported in Japan. In Jamaica, there are still many areas that have not received adequate aid, and what is truly needed now is continued support moving forward.
Jamaican music and culture are our life itself. When the great earthquake struck Japan in 2011, Jamaican artists, sound systems, and the people of Jamaica supported us. Now, we believe it is our turn to give back, and that is why we decided to resume activities as Mighty Crown Sound.
Through this event, we hope people will learn about the current situation and join us in helping bring smiles back to Jamaica. We truly need everyone’s support. Beyond attending this event, we would greatly appreciate any help through donations, sharing information on social media, and spreading the word.
